Tilghman

Tilghman is one of those rare places that feels wonderfully untouched in all the best ways. Tucked at the southern tip of Talbot County on Tilghman Island, this is a community where life naturally revolves around the Chesapeake Bay, and I think that is exactly what makes it so special. The island itself is only about three miles long, but that smaller scale is part of the magic. Life here feels personal. Neighbors know each other, traditions matter, and there is a genuine sense of connection that is hard to find just anywhere. 

What I love most about Tilghman is that it never tries too hard. It does not need to. Its beauty is in its authenticity. This is a true working watermen’s village, and you can feel that heritage in everyday life. Fishing, crabbing, oystering, boating, and charter trips are not just activities here; they are part of the island’s identity. The waterfront is not simply scenic, though it certainly delivers on that front. It is woven into the rhythm of the community, shaping everything from the local culture to the dinner plate.
